Questions from Digital Literacy Freewrite - 9/14/11

• We read print texts different from digital texts because a different set of words may be used in both. Say the digital text is a blog or a social network, then slang words may be incorporated into on of these. Also we read print text differently because it is in print. Most people get bored from print text because it is on plain pages. Digital text is on web pages so it is a lot more vivid.
• Yes, there is a big difference between these two. When you are just acting as a participant you are posting stuff for other people to read but not really being critical of what others have wrote. When you are active, critical and digital literate you take others into consideration. You understand and comprehend others and not only yourself.
• Everyday happening of facebook involves all of these things. I contribute by posting videos and thoughts on my status. Facebook distributes this information to all of my friends. Then I get to consume all of the videos, photos, and thoughts my friends post. This thinking makes me believe that people are more connected to one another than it seems.
• Digital literacy to me seems like it is a stem from literacy. In order to be digitally literate, you need to be literate and be able to comprehend first.
